Mayuko Hino gets called the "Queen of Noise" for her role in founding C.C.C.C. (Cosmic Coincidence Control Center) in 1990 with Hiroshi Hasegawa. Part of the Osaka scene in the 90s, early C.C.C.C. performances combined live noise and Hino's actions with bondage ropes and candle wax, drawing on her past work as an actress in pink films of the 70s and 80s. Butoh became a focus in her performances of the late 80s, and her activity spanning the 90s included C.C.C.C., solo noise performances, and collaborations with Keiji Haino, Masonna, Jojo Hiroshige, Monte Cazazza and others. Hino organized the groups Transparentz with Seiichi Yamamoto of the Boredoms, DFH-M3 with vocalists Junko and Ranko Onishi, and released her first solo album in 2014. Now in 2025 she returns to the Bay Area for the first time in over two decades with a solo tour. Hino's sound is atmospheric, dense, textural, and fierce, channeling an emotional intensity through noise as 'trans-disciplinary media.'

Ava Koohbor is a maker who's fascinated with metals, rust, concrete, asphalt and the resonances of the city's day to day life. She sees a performance as a zone/ to zero in on/ an emblem of all becoming/ an amulet for all sound/ an offering to the soul/ a martyrdom for all noises/ harmonized/ tuned/ sanctioned/ under acoustic law.
